The members of Provincial Flying Squad have on Thursday 06 March 2025 at about 20:45 nabbed two foreign male Nationals in connection with possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle and Contravention of Immigration Act.
Police were busy conducting patrol duties when they received a complaint about a Silver Suzuki seven seater motor vehicle that was reportedly stolen from a female victim in Polokwane Central Business District (CBD), Compensatie Street at about 19:00.
Police together with a Tracking company immediately started with a search of the motor vehicle until it was located at a residential area in Mahwelereng location, Zone 02 under Waterberg District.
The motor vehicle was tactically approached and police found two males seated inside it. The duo were asked to produce the authentic documents about ownership of the motor vehicle but they failed to produce them.
Furthermore, the suspects could not provide satisfactory responses about the origin of the motor vehicle and were immediately placed under arrest for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were illegal immigrants and also intending to travel with the motor vehicle to Gauteng province. A charge of Contravention of Immigration Act was added and the motor vehicle was also seized during the arrest.
The suspects aged 37 and 51 are expected to appear before the Mahwelereng Magistrate court on the 10 March 2025 facing a charge of possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle and Contravention of Immigration Act
Police investigations are continuing.
