Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC, Mr Jackie Macie has today (03 October 2024) joined Public Works, Roads and Transport MEC, Mr Thulasizwe Thomo for the launch of Transport Month.
The Launch took place at Machadodorp Toll Plaza in the Emakhazeni Local Municipality.
Transport Month is commemorated in the month of October and the aim is to raise awareness of the important role played by transport in the economy, and to encourage participation from civic society and businesses, including the provision of a safer, more affordable, accessible and reliable transport system in the country.
The Launch was in a form of a roadblock and was conducted jointly by stakeholders including Provincial Transport Inspectorate and Traffic Law Enforcement, National Traffic Police, SAPS, Emakhazeni Local Municipality Traffic and
Department of Home Affairs, to mention a few.
To commemorate the Month, the province will have a string of activities and operations aimed at ensuring safety of all road users.
