Over the past weekend Police embarked on high density operations from different Stations (Graaff Reinet, Addo, Thornhill and Cookhouse) within Sarah Baartman District and yielded good results as at least three unlicensed firearms were removed from the criminals.
Police were claiming space from the criminals by partaking on foot patrols and also doing stop and search in their policing precincts and managed to arrest thirteen suspects aged between 16 and 52 years for crimes ranging from possession of drugs, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, business robbery and possession of suspected stolen property. Dangerous weapons and drugs (mandrax,Tik) to the street value of more than R70 000.00 were confiscated as part of crime prevention. The suspects will appear in different Magistrate courts tomorrow, 22 July 2024.
Sarah Baartman District Commissioner Major General Zolani Xawuka applauded the members for their dedication in ensuring that our citizens are safe and secure. “We will keep on doing operations and remove unlicensed firearms and drugs from the streets,” he added.
