Major General Zolani Xawuka applauded members for the excellent performance in arresting offenders and recovering of stolen property within Sara Baartman District yesterday, 12 July 2024.
Members attached to Kinkelbos SAPS assisted an external stakeholder while chasing a white Opel Corsa Utility Bakkie transporting stolen copper cables that was stolen in a site in East London. According to police reports, the vehicle was spotted on the N2 yesterday, 12 July 2024 at about 12:00, and they managed to stop it. On investigation, six (6) male occupants were arrested for possession of suspected stolen copper and possession of stolen property. Police confiscated the copper cables and the vehicle as it was used in the commission of a crime.
The suspects will appear before the Motherwell Magistrate court on Monday, 15 July 2024.
In a separate incident, Police embarked on Operation “Vuthu Hawe” and yielded good results when members successfully executed a search warrant during an intelligence driven operation in Graaff-Reinet. Four (4) suspects between the age of 25 and 36 years were arrested for possession of drugs (Mandrax tablets and Tik) to the estimated street value of about ten thousand rand (R10 000) and for possession of suspected stolen property.
The suspects are due to appear before the Graaff-Reinet Magistrate court on Monday, 15 July 2024.
