KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Sipho Hlomuka today handed over the another contractor for the rehabilitation of main road P48 in Babanango Community Hall, Ulundi Local Municipality.
Main Road P48 that requires rehabilitation starts off in the west at kilometre 10.000 and extends eastwards for a length of approximately 6.000 kilometres towards the town of Babanango. The total length of the road that requires rehabilitation is 8.000 kilometres.
The project comprises of the rehabilitation of main road P48 as well as the construction of ancillary works and associated road prism drainage at an estimated total construction cost of R62 million. More than 28 job opportunities will be created from this project.
MEC Hlomuka was joined by Ulundi Local Municipality speaker, Cllr. S. Buthelezi, Local House of Traditional Leadership, Inkosi uNtombela, district and local councillors, stakeholders and senior officials.
