Three male suspects were arrested by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Rea Vaya Unit for the possession of two unlicensed firearms and live ammunition in Croesus, Johannesburg.
On Friday, 29 September 2023, whilst conducting a roadside check at Commando and Albertina Sisulu Road officers stopped a white Volkswagen Polo with three male occupants.
All three males were searched, and two firearms and ammunition were found in possession of the driver and one of the passengers, who failed to provide any documentation that allowed them to possess the firearms.
The trio were immediately arrested and detained at Sophiatown SAPS. They are due to appear in court during the week.
The firearms were profiled and it was discovered that one firearm belonged to a security company and the other to a private owner.
