This morning at around 03:30, our control room received a WhatsApp message from one of the groups informing us of suspicious movement in the park on Witdoring Street followed by loud noises.
Units swiftly responded, and upon arrival, they caught the suspect busy cutting electrical cables. The suspect then dropped everything and started running.
Officers followed, and backup was called in. Our officers managed to detain the suspect before handing him over to Garsfontein SAPS.
All cutting equipment was recovered. Well done to the vigilant community member and to our officers for the quick response. Criminals must know that we won’t tolerate any cable theft in our area.
