Twenty-one (21) suspects aged between 20 and 59, nabbed during Easter Weekend, between Friday, 18 April and Sunday, 20 April 2025 by members of Operation Vala Umgodi, will separately appear before the Giyani, Sekhukhune, Nebo, Lulekani, Saselemani, Ritavi and Malamulele, Magistrate Courts, on Tuesday, 22 April 2025
The operations were conducted at various districts in the Limpopo province.
The suspects were charged with offenses such as illegal mining, illegal processing of precious minerals, and contravention of immigration laws.
During the operations Police confiscated a variety of items, which included trucks, shovels, spades, and pickaxes, amongst others.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Major General Samuel Manala, has commended the Operation Vala Umgodi team and encouraged them to continue working hard and focused on the main target, and protect the minerals of this province.
The Police investigations are ongoing.
