Endeavours to arrest wanted suspects in the Western Cape yielded success during a targeted takedown operation directed to neutralise and bring criminals to book who are actively involved and wanted on various murder, attempted murder and extortion related cases in Khayelitsha, spanning over a period of time.
This targeted integrated takedown operation was meticulously executed on Wednesday, 02 April 2025 between 10:00 and 15:00 by Crime Intelligence, Khayelitsha CIMAC, Khayelitsha Detectives assisted by Tactical Response Team (TRT), focusing on the tracing of wanted suspects for seven murder cases and two attempted murder cases as well as the recovery of prohibited firearms.
During the operation, the integrated team pounced on locations in Samora Machel, Wesbank, Kleinvlei and Mfuleni where they arrested four suspects between the ages of 23 and 28.
During the arrests members recovered and confiscated a Luger 9mm pistol with 15 rounds, a Retay Blank 9mm Firearm, Pietro Beretta 7.65, with 12 rounds of ammunition, a Glock 19 Austria pistol with 37 rounds.
Two accused aged 23 and 24 face charges related to the mentioned murders, attempted murders, extortion as well as the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition while the other two aged 25 and 28 face charges related to the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. The two murder accused were on the run for more than a year and will now be added to two accused, aged 24 and 30, who were arrested during April 2024 on the same extortion related murders.
The four suspects are expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court on the mentioned cases on Friday, 04 April 2025.
