Police members attached to Public Order Policing, deployed in the metropole to quell the ongoing violence in the Western Cape arrested two males whom they found in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The members deployed in Manenberg policing precinct were busy with patrols on Sunday 13 April 2025 when their attention was drawn to suspicious activities at a house in Jenny Schneider Street. They entered the premises and searched the occupants during which they recovered a pistol with ammunition and in the process arrested a 26-year-old man for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Meanwhile members deployed in Gugulethu responded to information and approached an identified address in Kick Informal settlement in the early hours of Monday 14 April 2025. Upon entering the house, they searched the premises and confiscated a revolver with ammunition found in the possession of an adult male who was detained for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Athlone Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges.
