The collaborative efforts of the police with other law enforcement agencies continue to make inroads in dealing with the illegal trade of counterfeit, contraband and illicit goods.
This after the multidisciplinary team inclusive of Counterfeit units, Brand Protectors, Border Police, Public Order Policing and private security company seized counterfeit goods to an estimated street value of about R5.5 million during the two-day operation conducted in Johannesburg District.
On the first operation which was held at Roodepoort on 02 April 2025, the team seized counterfeit clothing, shoes, toys and cellphone accessories to an estimated value of R1.3 million.
On 03 April 2025, the team operated in Hillbrow and Johannesburg Policing precincts and they seized counterfeit consumable goods and cellphone accessories all to the value of approximately R4.3 million.
All these operations are crime intelligence led and will continue to be conducted with an effort to destabilise the trade of counterfeit and illicit goods.
