The Western Cape police remain persistent in the fight against the illegal circulation of firearms and ammunition as they apprehended two male suspects on Tuesday 01 April 2025.
Grassy Park SAPS members received a tip off about a wanted suspect on an attempted murder case that is hiding in Parkerswalk Parkwood. The members acted on the information they received, and upon arrival at the identified address, they heard someone jumping on top of the roof. The members in pursuit found the suspect on the roof with a 9mm pistol and four rounds of ammunition in his possession. The suspect was arrested and detained at Grassy Park police station.
In a separate incident, Delft SAPS members performed patrols in Sunny Ackers’ shopping centre when they saw two men walking towards them. One of the two turned around upon noticing the police marked vehicle. The members found this suspicious and chased after the suspect, during which the suspect dropped a sling bag and ran away. The second suspect then grabbed the sling bag, but the members managed to catch him. The members found a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver with six rounds of ammunition inside the bag. The 28-year-old man was subsequently arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The two suspects will appear in the Wynberg and Bellville Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges once charged.
