One (1) of three (3) men attempting to steal a motorcycle was severely assaulted after he was apprehended by the community in Mhlasini – KZN during the early hours of this morning (Friday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the scene at approximately 02:52. On arrival, Reaction Officers met with SAPS Members from Verulam. It was established that three (3) males were in the process of stealing a red Big Boy motorcycle (picture 2) when the owner woke up.
He rallied support from neighbours who assisted to apprehend one (1) of the suspects. The man was thereafter beaten. The owner of the motorcycle is a Malawian national.
He was unable to register a criminal case due to him being in South Africa illegally.
