The Bloemspruit police are investigating a case of attempted murder following a shooting incident at a newly opened tavern in Phase Six.
Police were called to a local hospital at approximately 01:00 on Sunday, 20 April 2025, after a 44-year-old man was admitted with gunshot wounds.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was at the tavern at around 20:30 on Saturday, 19 April 2025. It is alleged that the 62-year-old owner of the establishment confronted the victim, accusing him of having an affair with his wife.
During the ensuing argument, the suspect allegedly discharged a firearm, wounding the victim in the right arm. The injured man was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Police have arrested the 62-year-old tavern owner in connection with the incident. His licensed firearm has also been confiscated as part of the ongoing investigation. The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 22 April 2025 for attempted murder.
