A successful weekly Operation Kukula results in the arrest of over 300 suspects and seizure of four firearms and ammunition

The SAPS Limpopo weekly operation Kukula (Shanela) conducted between Monday 07 April and 13 April 2025 has led to the arrest of 327 suspects across five districts.

Four illegal firearms and ammunition that are mostly used in the commission of violent and serious crimes were recovered.

The operation comprised various SAPS units such as Visible Policing, Public Order Policing, Detective Services, Department of Home Affairs, members of Community Policing Forum, private security and Traffic officers.

Actions executed were,

▶️24 scrapyards were raided.

▶️26 roadblocks were conducted.

▶️1704 premises were searched.

▶️️ 19 unlicensed liquor premises were closed.

▶️119 second-hand dealers were inspected.

▶️43 mines were visited.

12 suspects were arrested for illegal dealing with liquor, 5 for possession of drugs, 9 for possession of dangerous weapons, 55 for assault GBH, 125 for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and 11 for illicit mining activities.

Suspects are facing charges of,

▶️ possession of drugs,

▶️ illegal dealing in liquor,

▶️robbery,

▶️Assault GBH,

▶️Malicious damage to property

▶️Murder.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has expressed gratitude for the arrests and commended the police units and other relevant parties for their diligent efforts to combat illegal activities in the province.

The suspects have already started to appear in different magistrate courts around the province.

The police investigation is still ongoing.
