UGIE – Members of the Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit continues in their commitment and dedication to prevent and detect stolen livestock in Ugie.
In a combined effort by the SAPS and Buffalo Security Company, the Unit achieved success with the recovery of 182 sheep that were reportedly stolen from a homestead at 12:15 on 07 April 2025 in the Cicirha area in Ugie.
The sheep to the value of R54 600-00 were found in the same area and were handed over to the lawful owner who was able to identify the livestock by their brand marks.
No arrest has been made at this stage however, investigation is continuing.
The Joe Gqabi District Commissioner Major General Lindelwa Vellem, commended the role players for the quick response that made the success possible.
