The perseverance and determination of police members attached to the Western Cape K9 Unit, deployed to combat crime in this province were rewarded when they detained six suspects on Sunday 16 March 2025 in possession of a stolen motor vehicle and the possession of drugs.
The police members conducted visible patrols in the City of Cape Town District when their attention was drawn to the driver of a black Hyundai SUV driving at a high speed in Hercules Street in Woodstock. The members took action which resulted in a high speed chase with police members in pursuit, forcing the driver to stop in Albert Road.
They searched the vehicle and the occupants, and in the process confiscated 29 sachets filled with methamphetamine and four mandrax tablets. Further investigation confirmed that the motor vehicle used to commit the crime was previously reported stolen which led to the detention of six suspects on charges of the possession of a stolen motor vehicle and the possession of drugs.
Once charged the suspects are expected to make their court appearance in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on the mentioned charges.
