Law Enforcement clamps down on illegal mining activities

A swift response from SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, Gauteng Traffic Police SLEU, and Wardens SLEU led to the apprehension of illegal miners following a tip-off about illicit mining activities at an informal settlement in Daveyton.

Officers rushed to the scene, upon arrival, the suspects attempted to flee, but were apprehended.

A search uncovered various tools and equipment used for illegal mining.

The suspects were apprehended for illegal mining and contravening the Immigration Act.
