Dedicated police officers continue with their quest to eradicate the distribution of drugs and the possession of prohibited firearms when they detained two females in Delft in connection with the unlawful possession of firearms, ammunition and drugs, yesterday.
On Wednesday, 05 March 2025 at about 10:30, members attached to Delft Crime Prevention Unit followed up on information received about firearms and drugs being stored at a premises in Balelas Street, N2 Gateway, Delft. Upon arrival at the mentioned address they found and seized a VZOR 763 pistol, a small quantity of different calibre rounds of ammunition and magazines as well as 2057 mandrax tablets, 49 tubes containing dagga, one packet of tik, one sachet cocaine, nine cellular telephones and four scales. Two females aged 32 and 39, were arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and possession of drugs. They are due to appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court once charged.
In an unrelated matter, a multi-disciplinary operation which included various law enforcement agencies, held on 31 January 2025, resulted in a total of 22 arrests, for the possession of drugs and undocumented persons.
On Wednesday, 05 March 2025, another multi-disciplinary operation initiated by Woodstock SAPS in collaboration with City law enforcement agencies and other role players were held on the Lower Church Street bridge, to prevent robberies leading up to the Cape Town Cycle Tour, yielded various successes which include 23 arrests for undocumented persons and two drug related arrests. (The two drug arrests are also undocumented persons). These operations will continue.
