A two-year-old boy was electrocuted after he made contact with an illegal electricity connection in Hazelmere – KZN a short while ago.
Residents of an informal area contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre at approximately 11:44 requesting medical assistance for the child.
Reaction Officers and RUSA Paramedics were immediately dispatched and on arrival, were informed that the minor had regained consciousness after being showered with cold water. The boy sustained burns to his left index finger.
A relative informed Reaction Officers that the child was playing the yard when he made contact with a poor insulated illegal electricity connection.
The cable supplies electricity to several homes in the area.
