Two suspects were fatally wounded and one injured by the police in Ivory Park on 22 February 2025.
It is reported that members of Ekurhuleni Tactical Response Team were on duty patrolling around Ivory Park policing area, when they spotted a white Ford Figo without a registration number. The members attempted to stop the vehicle which did not stop. They went on to block it at Dlamini Street and that is when a passenger of Ford Figo pointed the members with a firearm. The members shot the three suspects and two were certified dead on the scene while the other one was taken to a local hospital.
One firearm was recovered in the suspect’s vehicle with a filled-off serial number.
The surviving suspect will be charged with pointing of firearm and possession of unlicensed firearm.
The Provincial Commissioner of the police in Gauteng, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni applauded the members for their vigilance and swift response.
