The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Community Outreach Unit spearheaded road safety awareness campaigns at Bekezela Primary School and Finetown Primary School, reinforcing its commitment to learner safety.
The initiative brought together key stakeholders including the Department of Education, the Department of Community Safety, the JMPD Community Outreach Unit, and Active Education.
At both schools, learners actively participated in educational sessions focused on crucial road safety practices. These sessions aimed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate roads safely as pedestrians, cyclists, and passengers.
The JMPD Community Outreach Unit played a vital role in engaging learners and delivering impactful messages about road safety.
The JMPD recognizes the importance of early intervention and education in promoting road safety. By collaborating with stakeholders and engaging directly with learners; the JMPD aims to create a safer environment for children travelling to and from school. These campaigns are part of the JMPD’s ongoing efforts to reduce road accidents and fatalities involving young people.
