Mopani Tracking Team together with the members of Mopani Highway Patrol have nabbed three male suspects responsible for an armed robbery incident committed at Letsitele policing area on Saturday 22 February 2025 at about 20:55.
It is reported that a 21-year-old female victim was walking along the street at Msiphana village when she was approached by a white Toyota Quantum minibus without a registration number with three male occupants.
Unexpectedly, the victim was pointed with a firearm and robbed of a cellphone valued at R3500 and the trio drove off from the scene at high speed afterward. The matter was reported to the police who started with a manhunt of the unknown suspects.
On Tuesday, 25 February 2025 at about 15:00, police received information about a male suspect who was busy attempting to sell a similar cellphone that was robbed from the 21-year-old female victim at Maake policing area.
Police operationalised the information to locate the male suspect who was found at Bridgeway village while in possession of a cellphone that was robbed from the female victim at Letsitele precinct.
A 21-year-old male suspect was immediately placed under arrest and the operation continued until his two accomplices were also arrested for the same incident.
The three male suspects aged between 17 and 25 are due to appear before the Ritavi Magistrate’s court soon facing a charge of armed robbery.
Police investigations are continuing.
