Members of the Gauteng Traffic SLEU, Gauteng Traffic Wardens SLEU, Gauteng Traffic Police Saturation, SAPS, PSIRA, and the Taxi Violence Task Team acted swiftly following reports about a security company allegedly intimidating the public by parading firearms and rifles in a public area.
Officers proceeded to a taxi rank where the security company and its guards were found operating, which is in direct violation of PSIRA regulations. Additionally, a court interdict prohibits the security company from being at the taxi rank.
Firearms in the possession of the security guards were taken to Tarlton SAPS for verification. The security guards were also checked to ensure compliance with PSIRA regulations regarding their appointment.
