The Management of the SAPS led by the Acting National Commissioner of SAPS, Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili are together with the Minister of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Ms Sindisiwe Chikunga attending the murder case of 25-year-old Shana Balie who was killed on Christmas Day.
Balie was allegedly killed by her boyfriend and thereafter buried in a shallow grave in the backyard of her boyfriend’s rented shack in Kraaifontein. Her 33-year-old boyfriend has been arrested and has been charged with murder.
Also in attendance at the Bluedowns Magistrate Court is the Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection, Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya and the Provincial Commissioner of Western Cape, Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile.
Minister Chikunga has condemned the killing of Balie and called for maximum conviction sentence for the perpetrator.
The SAPS has in the past year ensured 29 000 GBVF perpetrators are arrested for GBVF related cases.
559 of these accused were sentenced to life in prison.
