Investigation underway following the fatal shooting of Mr Kosi Thugwana

An investigation is underway following an incident whereby Mr Kosi Thugwana, aged 45 was found fatally shot inside his vehicle, a Toyota Fortuner in a tragic incident which took place at Tweefontein, on Sunday night, 05 January 2025 around 21:00.

The vehicle was found idling with his lifeless body inside, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The Police also seized some cartridges found at the scene and he was unfortunately certified dead by the paramedics.

A dedicated team of investigation experts is diligently working on this case under the leadership of the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, with the hope to find the perpetrator(s). The team is committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding this heinous crime and bringing those responsible to justice.

As of now, no arrests have been made however the SAPS assures the community that every effort is being made to solve this case and the motive for the shooting remains unknown at this stage.

Police urge anyone with information that may assist in apprehending the suspects to call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi has strongly condemned the incident. “We are confident of some breakthrough because our officers are working tirelessly to gather evidence and pursue all possible leads to ensure a swift apprehension of the suspects involved in this case, ” said the General.
