Mossel Bay Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management Services responded to a call received from the NSRI Station 15 yesterday, 26 January to assist a female rock climber in distress on the St Blaize hiking trail.
A team comprising of Mossel Bay Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management Services, the South African Police Service and Metro EMS responded to the location at 11:57. Contact was made with one of the rock-climbing team members upon arrival at the location, whereafter a rope system was deployed to access the bottom of the cliff where the distressed patient was located.
The female adult was successfully brought to the top of the cliff in a combined rescue attempt.
