A 24-year-old theft suspect was severely assaulted by Churchgoers in Buffelsdraai – KZN.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the church. On arrival, Reaction Officers discovered a crowd surrounding a man bleeding from injuries to his face.
It was established that the suspect gained entry to the church while members of the congregation were outside preparing for a prayer. The suspect was caught red handed stealing valuables from handbags.
He was locked in the prefabricated building while waiting for Law Enforcement to arrive. The thief escaped through a window and fled into a dense bush. A mob pursued and apprehended him for the second time.
The community thereafter assaulted the man.
