In a stern warning to speeding drivers, law enforcement officers in the Waterberg District have arrested two drivers for excessive speeding in the past 24 hours.
This morning, a male driver of a grey Volkswagen Polo was arrested on the N1 at Sondela for speeding at 187km/h in a 120km/h zone. He is scheduled to appear at the Bela Bela Magistrate’s Court on 17 December 2024.
Another driver, behind the wheel of a white Ford Ranger, was arrested on the evening of 12 December 2024 on the N1
near Mokopane for speeding at 181km/h in a 120km/h zone. The driver appeared in the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court this morning.
Speeding is reckless and irresponsible behaviour that puts the driver’s life and the lives of passengers, pedestrians, and other road users at risk. It can lead to devastating consequences, including loss of life, and serious injuries. Drivers are urged to obey speed limits and drive responsibly to avoid spending their holidays behind bars.
Be responsible on the road, supporting the #projectEDWARD initiative, which aims for Every Day Without A Road Death, as part of the Festive Season Road Safety Campaign.
