Yesterday afternoon, just after 4pm, Mi7 National Group’s Emergency Medical Services was dispatched after reports of a Motor Vehicle Accident on West Street in the Pietermaritzburg CBD.
Mi7 medics found that two vehicles had collided head on, before slamming into a tree. The driver of one vehicle was still entrapped in the wreckage.
Pietermaritzburg firefighters, together with Mi7 medics and their counterparts from other service providers, worked together tirelessly to extricate the driver. Pietermaritzburg firefighters used their new specialised hydraulic rescue equipment, otherwise known at the Jaws of Life, recently donated to the department by Mi7.
Eventually, the driver was rescued. The driver, along with two other patients, were stabilized and transported to hospital.
We wish all those injured a successful recovery.
