UMLAZI, DURBAN
At approximately 17h30 Ensure Security were activated to assist Moto-Track with the recovery of a hijacked motor vehicle.
The vehicle in question, a white Suzuki, used for the transportation of medical laboratory samples, was hijacked in P section, Umlazi earlier.
Ensure Security’s Tactical Intervention unit descended on the area and following a brief tracking period, located the vehicle abandoned in Umlazi.
The vehicle was handed over to the South African Police Services, where it was towed and secured for further investigation.
Further information ascertained revealed that the driver and his passenger were accosted by two suspects, one armed with a firearm. The suspect fired shots striking the driver in the right upper chest area and grazing the passengers leg.
The driver was rushed to hospital however he later succumbed to his extensive injuries.
The suspects remain at large.
