Operation Vala Umgodi operators deployed along the borderline area together with Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit and K9 Unit from Ladybrand executed various crime combating operational concepts.
Two suspects, aged 17 and 27, were arrested for vandalising the Recreational Hall in Ladybrand. The suspects were found in possession of electrical fittings and parts of freezers valued at R1100-00. A case of possession of presumably stolen property was opened.
The joined team chased a White Ford Ranger Double Cab between Ladybrand and Clocolan and were able to pull it over. The vehicle was tested and the computer box VIN and the one on the body were not corresponding. It was later discovered that the vehicle was involved in Witrivier area for smuggling of firearms. The 39-year-old male was arrested for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle and the Directorate for Priority Crimes Investigation was informed of the arrest.
The last phase of the operation was extended to an identified drug post in Manyatseng near Ladybrand. Two identified houses were searched and dagga weighing at 52,80; with the street value estimated to R221 800.00 was seized. Two suspects, aged 23 and 26, were arrested and a case of dealing in dagga was opened at Ladybrand police station.
Suspects will appear before court soon.
