Pieces of Rock Cocaine was recovered during a cavity search of a man in the Verulam CBD – KZN.
The suspect was under observation during a planned operation between members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the Verulam SAPS and other Private Security companies on George Sewpersad Street in the Verulam CBD – KZN.
Information received that a group of males purchasing stolen goods from robbery suspects were known to loiter in an arcade near the Trenance Park Taxi Rank. First Responders kept observation of the location and spotted the men
identified by the informer.
The arcade was stormed and three suspects were restrained. One individual was found in possession of 72 capsules suspected to be Heroin. Two water meters and three Capitec ATM cards were located in a bag belonging to a 19-year-old.
During a search of the third suspect, a Reaction Officer noticed that he was clenching his butt cheeks. The Officer questioned the man who stated that he had hidden drugs in his private parts. He removed a packet containing the Rock Cocaine. During further questioning, he stated that he had purchased the narcotics with his Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant. He intended on reselling the drugs.
All three suspects were detained at SAPS Verulam.
