Durban Metro Police Service Strike Team conducted a targeted operation focusing on scholar transporters. During the operation numerous drivers were charged for overloading, risking the safety of learners by exceeding the vehicle’s capacity.
At Sydenham, they issued 54 charges and suspended 17 additional vehicles in dangerously poor condition, including a case where children were crammed into an unroadworthy school bus.
The Strike Team will continue to crack down on those who disregard the safety of our children and fail to follow the rules of the road.
