The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department’s Community Outreach Unit recently conducted a road safety campaign targeting Sixty60 Checkers Bike Riders Deliveries and Mr Delivery drivers. The campaign aimed to raise awareness about road safety regulations and ensure compliance among delivery riders.
The campaign commenced at Kayalami Corner, proceeded to Waterfall Corner, and concluded at Woodmead Shopping Center. During the outreach, officers engaged with numerous delivery riders, many of whom were found to be operating without proper identification and permits.
The JMPD officers provided guidance on the necessary steps to obtain the required documentation. Despite initial apprehension, the riders expressed gratitude for the educational initiative to promote responsible road usage.
The JMPD Community Outreach Unit remains committed to fostering road safety and ensuring the well-being of all road users, including delivery riders.
By providing education and guidance, the unit aims to prevent accidents and promote a safer transportation environment.
