MEC for Transport and Human Settlements, Siboniso Duma has announced that R83 million from R465 million has been set aside for emerging contractors in deep rural areas of Okhahlamba Local Municipality.
This forms part of the rehabilitation of Main Road P394, which covers a stretch of approximately 24 km.
Communities from KwaVimbukhalo, Mhlwazini and Magangagozi celebrated when Duma announced job creation and the improvement of their road.
As we Inspire Hope for a Better Future, Duma outlined the following breakdown of emerging local companies to benefit:
●Owned by Women – R24,9 million
●Owned by Youth – R29 million
●Owned by people with disability – R4,1 million
●Owned by Military Veterans – R8,3 million
●Owned by others – R16,6 million
The Department of Human Settlements has also invested R61 million towards the construction of houses.
