A police constable and a reservist from the Lebowakgomo Police Station, Limpopo were arrested for corruption and obstructing justice, with the reservist also facing charges of housebreaking and theft.
On July 28, 2024, they allegedly searched a man’s home, found dagga, and forced him into paying R1,500 as bribe to avoid charges. He later paid the officers and was later released without charges. But the male did not take this lightly and decided to report the incident and open a case due to improper procedures done by the officers.
Further investigations revealed that the reservist was involved in a housebreaking in May 2023 where police vans allegedly broke into a shop owned by a foreign national, stealing cash and cigarettes without filing a report or presenting any evidence.
