A 29 year old man was apprehended by Reaction Officers while he was in the process of stealing a water meter in Brindhaven – KZN.
The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre received calls from three different residents on Glenaire Avenue requesting assistance after they noticed a male climbing over the boundary wall of an unoccupied home. Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and while responding noticed an individual matching the description attempting to steal a water meter.
Officers immediately apprehended the suspect. Several residents confirmed that the man was seen entering different properties but fled when he noticed he was being observed. During an interview, the male informed Reaction Officers that he is a Heroin addict. was assaulted by his father last week after he stole R20. He sustained head injuries from the assault.
The suspect was detained at SAPS after a case of Malicious Damage To Property was registered.
