Five notorious suspects linked to a series of business robberies in Polokwane are set to appear in court on Wednesday, 25 September 2024. The suspects, aged between 22 and 42, are believed to be a gang of dangerous criminals that have been tormenting businesses in Polokwane and surrounding areas since the beginning of September.
The suspects targeted restaurants, pharmaceutical companies, filling stations, and liquor outlets, armed with firearms. They were linked to over six cases.
They were finally stopped in their tracks when they were arrested at separate locations in Westenburg and Seshego policing precincts following an intelligence-driven operation conducted from Thursday, 19 September, until Friday night.
During the arrest, the officers managed to confiscate items, including three pellet firearms, knives, cigarettes, various types of liquor, a substantial amount of cash, and a pair of cloned registration plates.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has commended the dedicated teams involved for the successful operation which led to the arrest of the criminals. “These arrests will go a long way in bringing relief to the business community and Polokwane community at large,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
