The deployment of resources to close down drug outlets led to the confiscation of drugs with an estimated street value of R50 000 during focused operations in the Garden Route District.
On Saturday, members attached to the Knysna police, operationalised information when they pounced on a residence situated at Hlalani near Uniondale Road, Knysna. The vigilant members proceeded with a thorough search during which they found cocaine and tik. They confiscated 33,77 grams of tik and 87,92 grams of cocaine. A 44-year-old man was arrested on a charge of dealing in drugs.
On the same day, 24 August 2024, Da Gamaskop police received information about drugs being sold at Sonskynvallei. The members deployed themselves strategically and armed with a search warrant descended on the house. A search of the premises led to the confiscation of 64 sachets of dagga and a small sachet with tik. The police arrested a 33-year-old suspect. He is facing a charge of dealing in drugs.
Furthermore, Garden Route Crime Combatting Team members conducted patrols at Zone 07, Thembalethu on Saturday, 24 August 2024 when they noticed a man fleeing from his parked vehicle. The members gave chase and caught up with him. Upon search the man the members found three sachets of tik in his possession. The drugs were confiscated and the suspect (33) arrested for his possession thereof.
The suspects will appear in their respective courts once formally charged.
These focused operations form part of various crime combatting operations conducted in the Garden Route District during the past weekend.
