Shots were fired outside the Verulam Magistrates Court on George Sewpersad Street in the Verulam CBD – KZN during an attempted hijacking.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance at approximately 05:42. On arrival, Reaction Officers met with the driver of a white Renault Clio.
The man explained that he is employed as a Security Officer at the court. Three suspects accosted him and attempted to hijack his vehicle as he arrived for work. He produced his personal firearm and fired shots at the suspects who fled empty handed.
No injuries were reported.
