– Police members attached to East London Tracing Team arrested four suspects aged between 30 and 35 years for possession of suspected stolen property and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition yesterday, 30 July 2024.
Police followed up on information they received about a Toyota Avanza that was allegedly used in business robberies around the East London area. After they received the information, they managed to get the vehicle in Amalinda with four occupants and stopped it. Upon searching it, Police recovered possible stolen property that was taken in one of the business robberies. They also recovered three (3) unlicensed firearms (9mm) and live ammunition, police also discovered that the vehicle that was used in commission of crime was stolen at Hout Bay in Cape Town. The suspects will also be possibly linked to other business robberies that occurred in the East London CBD.
The suspects are appearing at the East London Magistrate Court today 31 July 2024 on charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of stolen vehicle, possession of suspected stolen vehicle and business robbery.
