Premier Dube-Ncube to lead provincial government service delivery and crime-fighting Imbizo in Umlazi

The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal Nomusa Dube-Ncube will on Wednesday 22 May 2024, lead the Provincial Government service delivery and crime fighting Imbizo in Umlazi Township, South of Durban.

The Premier will be joined by the Members of the Executive Council who will engage the members of the community on programmes in their portfolios that are aimed at fighting crime, creating jobs, business development, address water supply challenges, housing and other community service delivery needs.

According to the Police crime statistics, over the past few quarters, three police stations in KwaZulu-Natal, namely Umlazi, Inanda and Plessislaer have become a hotbed of murders in the country. The Premier will be joined by the Police, crime fighting structures and sector representatives who will also engage the community on partnerships in the fight against crime.

On the day Premier will pronounce on new interventions aimed at boosting crime fighting initiatives. She will also visit two Police station in Umlazi where she will receive a briefing on the status of the Police stations and their strategies to fight crime.

The Provincial government working with eThekwini Municipality, has implemented a turnaround strategy that has addressed the issue of refuse collection in the township. The Premier will have an opportunity to assess progress in this regard.

Premier Dube-Ncube will also outline government plans to address ongoing water supply challenges in some parts of Umlazi, following government water intervention Imbizo convened by the Minister of Water and Sanitation Senzo Mchunu in December 2023.

Together with other MECs, the Premier will also visit projects supported by the Provincial Government through various funding projects.
