Police disarm four suspects during recent interventions in Elsiesriver and Kleinvlei policing precincts

In the quest to rid the streets of the Cape Flats of the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, police members pursued detailed information which resulted in the arrest of four suspects in isolated incidents on Wednesday 17 April 2024.

Elsies River police members were busy with patrols when they assisted with an integrated operation in their policing precinct. They forced the driver of a suspicious motor vehicle to a halt. They ensued with a search of the occupants and the motor vehicle which led to the confiscation of a 9mm Beretta pistol and a 9mm Norinco Pistol with ammunition. None of the three occupants were in possession of a valid license to possess the mentioned firearms. They detained the three males on charges of possession of an unlicensed and prohibited firearm and ammunition.

In an unrelated incident Kleinvlei police members were busy with crime combatting operations in Keerom Street at 05:56 when they were stopped by a community member who informed them that she was robbed moments earlier by a known person. While the police members interviewed her, she pointed out the suspect to them. The police members searched the man and confiscated a 9mm pistol found in his possession. They arrested the 27-year-old man on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm

Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Goodwood and Blue Downs Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges.
