Police members attached to the Harare Crime Prevention unit conducted stop and search operations on Wednesday 31 January 2024, which resulted in the arrests of two suspects who were caught in possession of abalone.
At around 10:00, they operationalised information received about a Silver Toyota Etios transporting abalone. The members proceeded to the nearby Baden Powel Drive intersection at the N2 highway. Their patience were rewarded when they spotted the mentioned vehicle and instructed the driver to stop next to the road.
They searched the vehicle and the occupants upon which they confiscated a consignment of abalone which were concealed in two bags. They arrested the three males aged between 27 and 29 on a charge of possession of abalone.
The suspects are expected to make a court appearance in the Khayelitsha Magistrates court today, on the mentioned charge.
