The determination by Western Cape police to rid communities of the illegal distribution of drugs yielded success when members of the Anti-Gang Unit and the Transnational Counter Narcotics Intelligence Unit conducted an intelligence driven operation in Mitchells Plain on Wednesday, 17 January 2024.
The members acted on intelligence about drug activities at an address in Avocado Street, Westridge and operationalized the information. A search of the premises ensued and the members found 3710 packets containing crystal meth, six medium size packets containing crystal meth and an undisclosed amount of cash on the premises.
A 39-year-old female and four males aged between 36 and 42 were arrested for dealing in drugs. The estimated street value of the drugs is R400 000.
They will appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court once they have been charged.
