The EMPD SCPU continues to engage in Road Safety Awareness Campaigns for Transport Month in the Nigel and Daveyton areas

Between Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 October 2023, from 08:00 to 14:00 on both days, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Social Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU) Officers, continued to engage taxi owners, drivers and commuters on road safety for public transport, in the Nigel and Daveyton areas.

Nearing the end of Transport Month and in preparation for the upcoming festive season, the EMPD continues to bring about awareness on road safety. It is evident that public transportation plays a major role in our communities, servicing a large number of the labour force. The EMPD works tirelessly to share knowledge and information, to influence driver and pedestrian behaviour positively. Taxi owners and drivers welcomed the Officers to the Nigel and

Daveyton Taxi Ranks, in an initiative to encourage them to practice caution at all times on public roads when serving the community.

The EMPD applauded the participation of taxi owners and drivers, and welcomes the partnership with taxi associations to improve road safety for public transport.
