Police in Tshwane arrested a suspect in Akasia on Monday, 06 February 2023, and recovered three firearms and ammunition of different calibers.
A team comprising members from SAPS Akasia, Gauteng Highway Patrol, and the K9 Unit were posted at a roadblock along the R80 and R566 roads to conduct crime prevention duties.
A vehicle with two occupants was stopped at this roadblock and a search was conducted.
The passenger of the said vehicle was reportedly found in possession of an unlicensed firearm, two magazines, and ammunition.
Further investigation led the members to recover another unlicensed firearm, an imitation firearm, and ammunition of different calibers at the passenger’s residence.
