Man killed in a home invasion in Ndwedwe

Thirty-seven-year-old Wiseman Bongani Ngcobo was killed during a home invasion and his Toyota Quantum taxi (registration unknown) was stolen in Emthebeni, Ndwedwe – KZN.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Center received a call for assistance from a neighbor who discovered Ngcobo unresponsive in his one-room home. The caller informed the controller on duty that he made the discovery during a wellness check after he noticed Ngcobo’s minibus leaving the property at an odd time in the morning. He presumed that the minibus had been stolen and was unaware that his neighbor had been shot.

RUSA Members were immediately dispatched to the location and on arrival found the Ndwedwe SAPS in attendance. Medics were directed to the one-room house where the victim was found lying on the floor. He sustained gunshot wounds to his abdomen, left arm, and the rear of his neck.

It was alleged that an unconfirmed number of suspects had forced their way into the deceased’s home. It was further alleged that Ngcobo attempted to fight off his attackers when he was shot. His house was ransacked however it could not be confirmed what was stolen. Several spent 9mm cartridges and a projectile were also recovered on the scene.

The deceased’s vehicle was also missing.
