Two suspects arrested for a robbery in Lenasia

Two male suspects were arrested by Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) K9 Unit and Guerilla Tactical Services members for robbery in Lenasia, south of Johannesburg.

On Tuesday, 21 June 2022, members received a tipoff of the whereabouts and description of a getaway vehicle, a Silver Volkswagen Polo used by three male suspects involved in a robbery at a barber shop where the victims’ money, cellphones, I.D’s, petrol and bank cards were taken.

Members proceeded to the given address, and on arrival they tactically approached the first suspect.

The suspect was found in possession of the getaway vehicle’s keys. He confirmed that he was the owner of the vehicle. Officers then searched the vehicle, and found some of the victims’ belongings inside.

Whilst questioning the suspect, he confirmed the involvement of two other suspects.

Officers followed up on various leads which led them to the location of the second suspect.

On their arrival, the second suspect attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by the officers.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that both suspects are wanted for other criminal cases. The third suspect is still at large.

Both suspects were detained at Lenasia SAPS and they will likely appear in court soon.
